Important Announcement!

Gemma and Andy are getting married in December 2019. Because of this, Gemma is taking a hiatus from writing and blogging in order to fully enjoy the planning stage of her dream wedding! Normal service will resume from January 2020.

About the Author

Gemma Humphrey is the author of Revelation, part 1 of the New Adult trilogy, Trinity.
She lives in East-Sussex, England, with her fiance Andy, her kittens, Brontë & Orwell,

and her hens, Rosemary & Pepper.

She is currently working on Parts 2 and 3 of the Trinity Trilogy.

When she's not writing, Gemma works for a busy and successful Opera House in the middle of the English Countryside and likes to spend any spare time she has reading (of course!) spending time with her family, visiting historically interesting towns, or scouring the local boot fairs for her next up-cycling project.

I'm a bit in love with mercury glass at the moment. That dull, aged mirror effect is just the right amount of sparkly-pretty-thing without going into full blown modern-chrome.

I had been looking into using mercury glass for some of our wedding decorations (yes I know i...

Have you ever just walked into a place and known, instantly, that it was going to be something special? I don't mean special as in impressive or unusual or remarkable. I'm talking about a feeling of rightness. Of knowing that a placewill be part of your future, and wil...

If you read my post from Feb 21st ( You didn't? you can here!) You'll know that I've been an advocate of soap nuts (or, tiger nuts, if you prefer) for a long while now. However, when my last batch ran out, I decided to try another option that had been popping up on my...

Yes I know I promised you a book review.... But WEDDING! (Almost over, I promise!)

Anne of Cleves looked so good on paper. It was my favourite from the beginning. I loved the idea of getting married somewhere with such history, and I'd had good reviews from other frien...

This is the blog post my mother has been waiting (not so) patiently for, for 2 weeks now - the update on our wedding progress.

(not interested? That's cool - skip it and I'll see you next week with a book review! <3)

After the initial panic, and waking Andy up at 3am t...

Life is busy right now. Its that time of year where my job is on my mind 24-7, and I'm dashing about from landlord to landlord, frantically slotting tenants into accommodation like the worlds worst jigsaw puzzle, haunted by the ever-ticking countdown to ARRIVAL DAY. (T...

I mean, it is, but it's not about books or homesteading or writing. I've had a bit of a whirlwind week and not had time to think about any of those things.

Why? Because this happened.

Yup, that's right - I'm now officially of the Engaged Elite.

Which is weird...

Remember I said I was a fast reader? I picked up The sun is also a star  - and didn't put it down until I finished it, only two hours later.

I have no idea where I picked it up from. I have a vague memory of seeing it and recognising the cover - probably from Instagram...

I'm a fast reader. I mean, a really fast reader. When I was younger, probably seven or eight years old, the school had me tested for dyslexia because I had so much trouble reading out loud in class. I would miss out words and whole lines of text - and have no idea I'd...

My mum is a bit of a gardener. She's always out in the greenhouse, 'pottering about' with seedlings and plants, or helping my grandad with his vegetable patch, my sister-in-law, sophie, with her wild-garlic infestation - or at mine, instructing me on how to do it all '...
